Common Baldness
The term "common baldness" usually means male-pattern baldness. Male-pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. Men who start losing their hair at an early age tend to develop more extensive baldness. In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hair line and baldness on the top of the head.
Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair becomes thin over the entire scalp.
Hair Loss Prediction
The majority of individuals that experience hair loss could have predicted their problem because of family history. Baldness tends to run in families. Sometimes it will skip a generation, so if your father is not bald, it doesn't necessarily mean that you are safe.
High stress levels can also be a hair loss cause, but it is usually a temporary issue. Trauma to the head may also cause hair loss. Trauma can create tension that may inflame or damage hair follicles and then stop hair growth.
Certain health problems can act as a hair loss cause. Autoimmune disease, illness, and malnutrition will often limit hair growth and the thickness of hair. Certain prescription drugs for acne, blood pressure, Thyroid problems, or Epilepsy may also contribute to hair loss.
